Symantec Chief to Retire in April, Remain Chairman

Symantec Corp. said Chief Executive John W. Thompson will retire at the end of the company's fiscal year in April.

The Cupertino, Calif., security software company said Monday that Mr. Thompson, 59 years old, will remain chairman after his retirement. He will be replaced by Chief Operating Officer Enrique T. Salem, 43.
